Half Top Knot

img_1472Looking for an easy, lazy day style? Look no further. Try out the new hair trend that’s sweeping the nation- or possibly already swept the nation and now us mid-west girls are just figuring it out.

A half-top knot is so easy and so trendy and so cute and so fresh. You should give it a try! You don’t need any new hair products- you don’t even need clean hair, for goodness’ sake.

Start with dirty hair. Brush with your favorite paddlebrush (I like Aveda’s). I used Aveda Shampure Dry Shampoo to soak up some oil and give a little volume for my “day three” hair (third day of not washing). Rub that in until all the grease is absorbed.

Simply backcomb a little, gather the hair you want in the top knot, and twist into a small bun. Adjust as needed and when it looks like it’s in the perfect place, secure it with a hair tie. Readjust the top knot and secure it with bobby pins. I usually use three. Try to cross the pins when possible to keep the bun secure.

After the bun is complete, gently backcomb the hair left out until it looks full. Sometimes, I curl the remaining hair to give the style even more polish.

Pull a few wispy hairs out in front (unless you want a more sleek look), and hairspray everything with a medium hold hairspray.

It’s as simple as that! Give it a shot and let me know what you think!
